President Draupadi Murmu on Thursday conferred the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army on Nepal’s Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel.President Draupadi Murmu conferred the honorary rank of General of the Indian Army on Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel at a special decoration ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan for his commendable military strength, his incomparable contribution in further promoting Nepal’s long-standing and friendly relations with India.Let us tell you that Nepal Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel is on a visit to India from 11 to 14 December. The purpose of Sigdel’s visit is to strengthen military cooperation between the armies of India and Nepal and to identify new areas of cooperation between the two countries. The Nepal Army Chief on Wednesday paid floral tribute at the National War Memorial in New Delhi and was given a guard of honor at the South Block Lawn.General Ashok Raj Sigdel held extensive talks with Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi in New Delhi on Wednesday. During the talks, the two Army Chiefs discussed various aspects of bilateral defence cooperation and regional security concerns.The Nepal Army Chief also met NSA Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri. These meetings provided an opportunity to exchange views on a wide range of defence and security issues, focus on matters of mutual interest and further strengthen friendship.
